
Learn to Make Chocolate in Costa Rica
Join us at Macaw Lodge, a wildlife sanctuary and cacao farm, and immerse yourself in every step of the craft chocolate-making process. From harvesting cacao pods and learning about agroforestry and sustainable cacao cultivation all the way through to the creation of finished chocolate, we’ll guide you through every step. When you’re done, you’ll have had the experience of a lifetime, the know-how to set up your own craft chocolate kitchen, and 25 to 30 of your own chocolate bars to bring home.
Tastings
Did you know that chocolate flavor profiles can be as complex as those in wine? Single-origin beans allow us to taste distinct qualities that reflect the terroir, growing conditions, local flora and fauna, and countless other factors that affect the beans. At its best, the craft chocolate making process highlights these unique flavors and qualities.
This is not the chocolate we grew up eating! Whether you consider yourself a dark chocolate veteran, a milk chocolate enthusiast, or are new to the craft chocolate movement, we’d love to create a customized tasting from our very own chocolate, specifically crafted for you and your event. Hosting a chocolate tasting is a fun and delicious experience that brings people together and will deepen your appreciation and knowledge of this fascinating and sought after food.


Our Chocolate
We get a lot of inquiries about selling our chocolate and, while we love the enthusiasm, that’s not our focus. Occasionally, when we have something we want to share that feels really special, we’ll let you know.
These will always be limited run micro-batch chocolates that are made from some new inspiration or motivation. They might be dark chocolates made from rare or unusual cocoa beans, unique flavor inclusions, a new confection or some combination of flavors we’re especially excited about.
